Chú ý rằng chương trình tạo ảnh phù hợp là chương trình phải tạo ra được bản sao chính xác ổ đĩa - exact replica kể cả vùng trống (free space) nhằm phục hồi các file bị xóa sau này

Sau khi đã tạo một ảnh ổ đĩa - drive image, cần các tool sau để convert và tạo máy ảo:

1. VMWare Workstation - You will need to register to download this file, after you register you may not be taken to the download page, just login to VMWare.com and click this link again
2. VMware Disk Mount Utility - Live View require this.
3. Java Runtime Environment - Live View requires this.
4. Live View - Download this file: LiveViewPublicInstallerv0.7b.exe - this program will enable VMWare to use the raw image.

Live View là một công cụ free nhưng không phải của VMware để tạo máy ảo từ ảnh ổ đĩa. Xem http://sourceforge.net/projects/liveview/
