What you need to know

Everything you've learned so far about web standards, CSS and HTML best practices just flew out the window. Building web pages that perform well in various browsers is a piece of cake compared to building HTML e-mails.
The first thing you must understand is that e-mail clients vary widely. This is also true among different versions of the same software.
The second thing you must know is that most e-mail clients do NOT behave as browsers do. Some e-mail clients support HTML and CSS very well. Some do so with mixed results and others not at all.

A few Dos and Don'ts

• Do use inline CSS styles for fonts and colors.
• Do use basic tables to hold your page elements.
• Do set page width to under 600px.
• Do use absolute URLs to images hosted on your server.
• Do use meaningful "alt" attributes on images in case image display is turned-off.
• Do include a plain text link to the web page on your server for people who can't see HTML e-mails.
• Do include an Opt-Out link for people who wish to be removed from your list. In most parts of the world, this is a legal requirement.

• Don't attach files.
• Don't use Flash or other media in e-mails.
• Don't use JavaScript.
• Don't use Frames or Framesets.
• Don't use spammy words or phrases in the subject or content of your e-mails.
• Don't overuse CAPS, percentage or exclamation marks as this can attract attention from Spam Filters.

Test Before you Blast

Open some e-mail accounts at MSN Hotmail, Yahoo, G-mail, etc... Send a few test e-mails to yourself and view them in the various web mails. Also test your e-mails on popular email clients and mobile devices. An effective e-mail campaign must convey its message immediately without need for clicking on attachments or images. If it doesn't, you're missing an opportunity to reach your customers.

Bad E-mail Examples

DISCLAIMER: I have no bias towards the companies in these examples. I'm simply showing you what their e-mails look like at my end.
Viewed from web mail, this company's e-mail tells me nothing so far except what's in the subject line. Sadly, there's not even a text link to the HTML page on their server which is a wasted opportunity.

Clicking on the attached file isn't much better, I'm afraid, because my web mail blocks images for security reasons. So far, not so good.
Clicking on the web page link brings up a long page of advertising that renders in Quirks Mode (no document type declaration is specified in the HTML).
To make matters worse, the creator used a non-standard font-face called Modern which looks terrible because I don't happen to have that font installed on my system. For best cross platform results, stick with Windows/Mac Web-Safe Fonts.

Good E-mail Examples

I don't need to look further to find out what this company is offering because the plain text version displays immediately.

Image based version of the same message. Short, sweet and to the point.

In summary, keep your designs simple and uncluttered. Place important content at the top of your page and use plain text and links to convey your message to people who won't see it otherwise.

Sending Limits

Now that your HTML E-mail is finally created, don't be too quick to hit that SEND button. Most server hosts, ISPs and web e-mail providers like G-mail put limits on how many messages you can send per minute/per hour/per day. If unsure, check with your provider before you send a blast. You wouldn't want to violate your Terms of Service Agreement .
At a minimum, you'll probably need a dedicated bulk e-mail sending software like PIMEX MailExpress (for Win only) or R10BatchMail (Win & Mac) that sends mail in short blasts spread out over time. If your list is larger than 20,000 names or you can't wait to send out all your e-mails, the use of an e-mail service such as Campaign Monitor, iContact, MailChimp or Constant Contact is highly recommended.

Tình huống: sau khi mất điện, vCenter hiển thị một số VM của cùng 1 host ở trạng thái "orphaned". Truy xuất datastore của host thì báo lỗi

Call "HostStorageSystem.RetrieveDiskPartitionInfo" for object "storageSystem-412" on vCenter Server "xxx.xxx.xxx" failed.

Tuy nhiên truy xuất trực tiếp vào host đó vẫn thấy VM hoạt động bình thường. Xem trong Task & Events của host thấy báo lỗi

Xử lý:

+ Logon vào host lỗi, shutdown các VM

+ disconect host -> reconnect. Nhập lại username/host -> OK

Convert Account or Contact record back to Lead?

For the accounts, if you really want them back as leads, I would use the Export to Excel feature. Then save, the file in csv import and then use the CRM import tool to birng the records in as leads.


To change a lead to an account, user the qualify action on a lead record. You can the create an account and opportunity.

7. You may see a duplicate entry that relates to a previous version of VMware, if so right click the row and delete it.
8. Restart the Veeam Backup Services.

Remove old kernel in /boot
Your boot partition is full. Since this is a kernel update, these files will be copied to the boot partition so you need to clean in out. Here is a blog post that will show you how to clear the old kernel images with one command. I'll give a basic synopsis of the method. Use this command to print out the current version of your kernel:

uname -r

Then use this command to print out all the kernels you have installed that aren't your newest kernel

dpkg -l linux-* | awk '/^ii/{ print $2}' | grep -v -e `uname -r | cut -f1,2 -d"-"` | grep -e [0-9]

Make sure your current kernel isn't on that list. Notice how this is the majority of the final command (down below). To uninstall and delete these old kernels you will want to pipe these arguments to:

sudo apt-get -y purge

Now we can do everything we want by combining these last two commands into this unholy mess:

dpkg -l linux-* | awk '/^ii/{ print $2}' | grep -v -e `uname -r | cut -f1,2 -d"-"` | grep -e [0-9] | xargs sudo apt-get -y purge

And that one command will take care of everything for you. I will confirm that this does work perfectly but never trust anybody on the internet. :) For more info, the blog post gives a very good explanation of what each part of the command does so read through it so you are satisfied that it does what you want it to do.

Change that value to l, F j Y and click Save in the upper right.

Now repeat the process for:

Note that DATE_FORMAT_LC2 (the one that changes how dates are displayed in your articles such as "Published on" will have the the following:

Make sure you leave the H:i at the end of the line if you like to display the time an article was published.

For DATE_FORMAT_LC3 change it from:

Note that you can change the above settings for both the frontend and backend at the same time as each have different language files. To accomplish this, when you go to make a new override before you click the New button make sure you have selected English - Administrator in the dropdown menu then click the New button in the upper right. You will have an option on the left called "For both locations".

To upgrade from Ubuntu 11.10 on a server system, follow the steps listed below:
Install the update-manager-core package (if it is not already installed).
Run sudo do-release-upgrade to launch the upgrade tool. Follow the on-screen instructions. Note that the server upgrade is now more robust and will utilize GNU screen and automatically re-attach in case of dropped connection problems, for example.
So, type the following commands:

sudo apt-get install update-manager-core

sudo do-release-upgrade

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade

Check version after upgrade

cat /etc/issue

or

cat /etc/issue.net

Upgrade from Ubuntu 12.04 LTS to 12.10

First of all we have to check if the new version is available. Open a terminal Ctrl+Alt+T and give this command.
do-release-upgrade -c
This command will check if the new version is available from the servers and will return the result.
If the version is available we can proceed.
If the version is not available then check one thing. Open this file
gksudo gedit /etc/update-manager/release-upgrades and see if Prompt is equal to normal Prompt=normal , If its not , then change it and after you save the file run in terminal
sudo apt-get update do-release-upgrade -c

Create bootable ESXi 5 memory Stick by using Free Unetbootin

nstall ESXi 5 on USB memory stick by using Unetbootin Freeware.

It’s been some time since I pointed out an easy way of Installing VMware Free Hypervizor ESXi 5 on to memory stick. It’s an easy to way to do by using VMware Workstation or Free VMware Player. You can read my post about it here - How-to create bootable ESXi 5 USB stick by using Vmware Player.
But you can do so by using free software called Unetbootin. This free application can create the bootable ESXi 5 hypervizor from any system – Linux, Windows or Mac OS X…
Here are the steps to create a bootable ESXi 5 USB stick:
01. Download Free Unebootin software (use the version you need for you system… Linux, Windows, MAC OS X, etc…)
02. Format the USB stick with FAT32 and make sure it takes a drive letter (E: for example)
03. Use Unetbootin to select your VMware ESXi 5 iso file –  VMware-VMvisor-Installer-5.0.0.update01-623860.x86_64.iso  and with the dropdown arrow choose the correct USB drive from your system.
04.  Now, that’s all. You are done. Click OK to start the installation process.  After, don’t forget to change the boot sequence in your BIOS to boot from USB.



Note that your hardware CPU must support the Intel® VT-x/AMD-V™ for instruction set virtualization, but all modern CPU does.
